More About Fields

To add to last week’s experiment, I’d like to invite you to explore the presence of fields in a slightly different way. One of the other things I mention to the assistants who support the trauma trainings I teach is that we consider ourselves to be one energetic organism. Because of the presence of fields of energy and information, when we gather together we actually do become an energetic organism. We are individual cells in an energy body, as it were – individual contributors to the field we generate when we gather together.
As this organism, I invite the assistants to notice that we can become aware of each other at this more basic level so that when one of us needs something all the others become aware of that need and that we become responsive to one another in a spontaneous and not-necessarily-conscious way. We recognize that our state of mind, the ways in which we conduct ourselves, the ways in which we re-center ourselves or don’t, have an impact on everyone else.
My invitation to them, to myself, and to you is to become increasingly aware that we are always part of some larger energy organism. How we are and what we do matters, above and beyond the material effects we see.
And so, for this week’s experiment, I invite you to become more aware of the energy organisms in which you participate. For example, your family constitutes an energy organism. Each member of the family is like a cell in the body – all are part of something larger than themselves, even as each has a particular, individual experience. Your community or neighborhood is another energy organism within which you are an active contributor. It’s the same for your workplace, your circle of friends, your country. All are energy organisms with their own qualities and, in each, you are a cell in a larger body.
I’ve mentioned in many of these experiments how important it is to know that who and how we are has a constant impact on the world around us. Because we swim in an ocean of collective consciousness, because we are individual cells in a larger organism, there is a constant opportunity to become aware of the thoughts, feelings and actions we generate and contribute to these larger contexts. One of the gifts of choosing to live more consciously is the fact that each and every moment offers an opportunity to practice, an opportunity to begin again to be aware of how we move through our world. It also offers an opportunity to make new choices in each moment if we discover that we don’t feel comfortable with what’s emerging from us at any given time.
As always, please bring curiosity along as your constant companion, and allow yourself to embrace mixed feelings. Sometimes exploring states of connection and oneness is deeply nourishing and inspiring; sometimes, it may be a bit overwhelming or create tension. The key here is to notice any judgments or reactions that may arise and allow them to move on through without giving them any extra energy or attention.
That each moment of life can be an invitation to live consciously and to have a chance to make new choices if the old ones don’t work allows the unfolding moment to be a constant adventure. I hope you will have fun as you continue to discover how the adventure is unfolding for you!
